Tips for Staying Cool in Your RV
RVs are equipped with a number of features to help keep them cool in even the hottest of weather. However, while they may be cooler than the great outdoors, an RV can still get uncomfortably hot when summer temperatures reach their peak. To ensure you don’t end up sitting in front of the AC unit for your entire trip, be sure to read our helpful tips on how to stay cool in an RV.
Protect Your Windows
While you may be tempted to open your RV’s windows when temperatures reach their highest, unless there’s a cool breeze blowing your way it’s likely to have the opposite effect. Because windows provide very little insulation from heat or cold, leaving them open or uncovered is likely to warm up your RV rather than cool it down. Instead, make sure to cover windows with some heavy curtains or apply a tint to help keep things cool.
Keep Electronics and Appliances Off
If you’re really struggling to stay cool in your RV as temperatures soar, the best thing you can do to reduce the heat in your rig is to power down your electronics. While a charging phone or single light bulb may not produce much heat, larger electronics such as gaming systems and laptops often do. It’s also wise to keep a majority of your appliances, such as ovens and microwaves, off for as long as possible. If you’re struggling to come up with recipes while you try to beat the heat, you may want to consider using a portable grill outside of your RV or looking into some al fresco dishes.
